Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said that the Government has commenced robust efforts to lighten up Coker-Aguda Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of the State in two years.
According to the Governor, efforts were ongoing to fasten development particularly across the Iganmu Abebe Village corridor housing the Nigerian Breweries and its environs.
Governor Sanwo-Olu who disclosed this on Friday when he received the new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Breweries, Hans Essaadi, at the State House Marina, said the investments in infrastructure would facilitate business performance around the area, particularly for the Nigerian Breweries which hold a strong stake in the corridor.
According to him, about N40 to N50 billion worth investments in Infrastructure were being projected to lighten up the environ.
Among the infrastructures he mentioned include, those on roads, rails, and drainages, which he emphasized were significant to facilitate ease of doing business around the corridor.
He disclosed that the State Government is equally investing on a fashion hub for beatification of the environ which, according to him, would attract attention to the area.
Governor Sanwo-Olu added that efforts to sanitise the area from miscreants were been intensified to minimise security threats around the corridor.
He said however, that given the huge funds required for the investments, the need for Public Private Partnership was important.
Assuring the new Managing Director of his government’s support, he stressed that the need for PPP to further strengthen Government efforts on sustainable basis was important.
Commending the organisation for its Corporate responsibilities, he said as “a destination for investments”, his administration would not relent at enhancing sustainable and conducive environment for business to thrive.
In his remarks, Essaadi mentioned that the company for over 75 years of its existence in the Country have continued to sustain growth with appreciable contributions to the State’s economy.
He mentioned that with innovative strategies, the Company seeks to expand its productivity base which he projected would facilitate exports to neighboring countries as well as contribute significantly to job creation.
Mentioning that a one billion euro five-year investments have been put into view, Essaadi stated that the organisation was ready to partner with the Government for robust development.
He disclosed that such efforts as the revamping of the gulder Ultimate Search adventure and the 7th edition of the 2021 Maltina Teacher of the Year are part of the organisation’s social corporate responsibilities.
In her remarks, the Head, Corporate Communications, Nigerian Breweries, Shade Morgan, mentioned that the Maltina Teacher of the Year award was strategic by the organisation to boost the morales of teachers and tutors.
She said given the recognised support of the Sanwo-Olu’s led Administration, the organisation expect the presence of the Governor for the Grand Finale of the 2021 edition slated for 15th October.
Meanwhile, the Certificate of the Guinness Book of Record for the Largest Cupcake Mosaic (Logo) convened in Lagos was on Friday presented to the Governor at the State House, Marina. It would be recalled that the last October Independent Days Celebration in Lagos witnessed the convening of 60,000 cupcakes to produce the largest anniversary logo in the world. The initiative had placed Nigeria in the Guinness Book of World Record as holder of the world’s largest
anniversary logo made with cupcakes.
Speaking on the presentation, the State’s Commissioner for Tourism, Art and Culture, Pharm. Uzamat Akinbile Yussuf, mentioned that the development was a great feat which the State would leverage on for other world records.
