We will invest every of our blood to actualise a greater Lagos dream — Sanwo-Olu

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said his administration will muster “unrelenting and unwavering” efforts towards ensuring the State is elevated to the enviable height envisioned by the Government.

Governor Sanwo-Olu who gave the assurance on Thursday at the State Capital Ikeja, at the event of the State-of-State broadcast to reel off account of his Administration’s achievements in two years of office, said the Administration will direct strategic efforts towards security and empowerment.

According to him, security and youth empowerment are two core areas that must be given premium attention if the State will experience relative peace and the desired development.

He mentioned that the next two years of his Administration will record greater successes with the working plans on several capital projects many of which have been flagged off.

“For our Youth, it is to provide for them an opportunity, be it in the creative industry, physical planning, infrastructures development and have those jobs for a future for them.

“We believe that in doing that, we would be helping them to secure the future of our state and the future of our Country.

“I have given an account of what we have done in recognition of the faith and hope you have bestowed on us.

“We do not take these responsibilities easily. We cherish it; we are committed to it and we will do every thing within our capacity. Every blood in our vain, we must invest for the greater Lagos we have promised you,” he said.

Among the iconic projects he reeled off to have been completed within the period under review include the 1.4 km dual carriage Pen-Cinema Bridge, Agege; Tedi-Muwo and Link Bridge; Lagos-Ogun Boundary roads in Alimosho and Agbado-Oke-Odo, and access roads; Oniru Network of roads, among others.

Also were reconfiguration of Junction/Roundabouts under the State Traffic Management Intervention Plan (TMIP); Commissioned 31 networks of roads in Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA); 13.68 kilometres Oshodi-Abule-Egba BRT corridor; 380-metre-long sea crossing bridge component of the Lagos Blue Line Rail spanning Mile 2 to Marina (completed).

Others were execution and rehabilitation of a total of 1,097 school projects; launching of the First And Last Mile Bus initiative with 500 units and injection of 100 high-energy capacity buses for standard routes; inauguration of new boats.

Also were the completion and commissioning of housing units which include 360 home units in Igbogbo Ikorodu; 84 home units – LagosHoms Lekki, phase II; 132 units at the BRF Housing Estate, Iponri, Surulere; 120 units – Courtland Villas, Igbokushu, Lekki.

Also were the delivery of keys to 492 beneficiaries of the Lateef Jakande Housing Estate, Igando; with a 360 housing units set for delivery at Igbogbo, Ikorodu and 660 home units at Odo Onosa-Ayandelu Housing scheme, Agbowa LCDA.

In addition to the completed projects, projects already flagged-off and are under construction/upgrading to further ensure linkage of different parts of the State together include, Lekki Regional Roads, Oba Sekunmade road, Agric Isawo road, St Finbarrs and Iwaya roads, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Bola Tinubu-Igbogbo-Imota Road, Ijede Road, Ikorodu (Phase 1), Constructions of 100 Bus Shelters (78 completed).

On Social intervention programmes, he disclosed that about 48,000 households were rescued from the scourge of poverty through various social intervention schemes within the period under review.
