We need more female grassroots football competitions – Adepoju
Ex-international Mutiu Adepoju, on Thursday called for more grassroots female football competitions in the country to enable more girls embrace the sport.
Adepoju told the Newsmen in Ibadan that this would help in more talent discovery and skills’ sharpening.
According to the former Real Madrid player, our projection over the years has been to improve the female football.
“Let me add that there’s so much room for them to keep getting better in skills and technicalities.
“We need a formidable female football team in Oyo State, for instance. The female football players in the state are on the right track, and I believe it will keep getting better when the right mechanism are put in place.
“Have seen some female teams play, and there are some areas that the coaches need to work on with the girls.
“Most especially, the handling of the ball, touches, passes, and tactical movement of the girls on the pitch.
“There are some female young players that I have seen who are very skillful and if worked on will become much more better than they are now,” he said.
