A Senior Special Assistant to Osun State Governor on Student Affairs and Social Mobilisation, Comrade Kehinde Ayantunji has disclosed that the present administration under the watch of Adegboyega Oyetola has disbursed bursary to no fewer than three thousand and one hundred (3100) Osun indigent students across the country.

It would be recalled that the Osun government commenced disbursement of the bursary to 100 students per local government area across the state in some couple of weeks ago.

Ayantunji said Governor Oyetola embarked on the payment of the bursary as part of the social intervention to cushion the effect of the economic crisis in Nigeria.

Oyetola’s aide stated this on Wednesday while fielding questions from Nigerian NewsDirect correspondent in Osogbo, Ayantunji who said that the state government is trying all its possible best to reduce the level of poverty in Osun.

He stated that one of the promises of Governor Oyetola is to ensure quality education and provide all necessary support to ensure education is accessible at all levels to residents.

Ayantunji noted that there is no increment of the tuition fees in Osun-owned tertiary institutions since the inception of Governor Oyetola which he said has encouraged youth to have higher education.

According to him, “Osun State Government under the leadership of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola see bursary as one the social intervention to support the education of our youth to also ensure we give students sense of belonging in our programme.

“I’m happy to inform you that today, we have paid three thousand and one hundred (3100) students across tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

“We started the collation of the lists around October last year, and Governor Oyetola approved the fund since December 2021. But the process of verification of the beneficiaries delayed the payment till late month.

“Apart from this, let me also state it on record that as a government in the last three years that Governor Oyetola has been in government we have not increased tuition fees in some of the state tertiary institutions, particularly the colleges of education and polytechnics. We have not increased a dime and this is a rare commitment considering the economic reality, the recession that the world is into now.” he said.

He, however, stressed that the performance of the present administration in the state has given the ruling, All Progressives Congress, APC, and its candidate Governor Adegboyega Oyetola in the July 16th, governorship election edge ahead of others in the polls.

“I can say authoritatively that with the feedback from our people and the engagement we have been having so far Governor Oyetola has given us enough courage to talk, engage and campaign to our people.

“And we are continuing this engagement and we are very sure that the people of Osun are solidly behind Mr Governor, because despite the challenges he has perform in an efficient manner in terms of infrastructure, in terms of economic development, in terms of worker salary, in terms of youth development.

“The Governor has done enough that will can campaign with so he has equipped us with campaign weapons with his performance and we have no doubt that by the grace of God, come July 16 will be declared elected as Governor of the state,” he added.
