We are on track to generate 6000mw by end of December – Power Minister

The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu has disclosed that the Ministry will deliver 6000 megawatts electricity generation by the end of December, 2024.

The Minister made this known at the 14th NewsDirect Anniversary and Award Ceremony in Lagos on Friday.

The Minister who bagged the “Award of Exemplary Leadership in Public Service” was represented by the Chairman, Power Sector Communications Team and Special Adviser on Communications to the Minister, Mr Bolaji Tunji.

The Minister thanked the organisers of the award noting that he will not rest on his oars but continue to relentlessly work towards ensuring that we have a stable electric power supply in the country.

He identified that under his leadership, the country has added over 1,000mw to the power generation.

Adelabu also dedicated his Award to Nigerians and thanked the management of NewsDirect for the recognition.

“One of the things the Minister told me to do is to dedicate this award to all Nigerians that stood by him and the ministry in ensuring that we have a stable electric power supply in the country.”

“So on behalf of the Minister, this award is dedicated to Nigerians who stood by us through the journey so far. We know we’re not where we want to be, presently we have about 5000mw we’re doing now and we’re not relenting. I’m assuring you that by the end of December we would have achieved 6000mw.”

Earlier, the Chairman of the NewsDirect Awards and Odu’a Investment Company Limited, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru noted that all awardees recognized by the newspaper were deserving of the recognition.

He noted that giving people recognition when do they well will serve as a an encouragement for them to do better.

“We must not only criticize but also commend public officials when they perform exactly well in an area. Personally, I spent 8 years serving in Government and 30 years in the private sector and I can tell you that it takes alot to be efficient when holding a public office.” He remarked.
