Vote for APC at FCT council elections — Abari tells Abuja residents

…Says issue of insecurity is a global problem

By Abba – Eku Onyeka

Ahead of the coming area council elections in Abuja  the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the first Abuja house of representatives member and a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Honourable Musa Tanko Abari, an indigene of Abuja himself has advised Abuja people to support the All Progressives Congress (APC), at the elections in Abuja.

The current federal commissioner that represents FCT at the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Abari addressed journalists recently in his Jiwa country home in FCT.

Enjoining them to not vote for wrong parties and candidates, because of insecurity which he said was a global problem, Hon. Musa Tanko Abari told Abuja people to put into consideration, the wonderful performance of the APC in the country and cast their votes for the party’s candidates during the elections.

“Let all the tribes in FCT: Gbagyi, Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, Fulani, Gade, Bassa, Gwandara, Koro and others vote for the APC during the area council elections in FCT, because we have been in the APC since and the APC did a lot for this country. Security is a global issue and each country has her peculiar problem, including Nigeria. But by the God’s grace, Mr President can tackle the problem, but let them give him time with patience,” he appealed.

Recall that the Gbagyi indigenes of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) had been producing AMAC chairman under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in this dispensation; a jinx Hon. Abdulahi Adamu (Candido), a Gwandara indigene in AMAC has broken.

Two prominent Gwandara sons, Dr Murtala Usman Karshi and Hon. Suleiman Gwagwa, who also aspired for the chairmanship position under the platform of the ruling APC in AMAC are yet to agree with each other, especially over the result of the primary, which saw Usman Murtala Karshi as the winner. It is believed that this development, if not handled with care, may divide the votes of Gwandara indigenes and make way for the Gbagyi candidate of the PDP.

When asked to react to that, Abari said: “No! It won’t affect the APC, because we rejected dictatorship in the party. The person who wanted to be a dictator to the elders is too small for that. People told him that he can’t be a dictator. The people brought him and they will also bring another person. He should receive advice from the elders, or else go astray.

“Let me tell you why Usman Karshi won the APC primary election. Against the party’s rules and democracy, they said they will do the primary in the afternoon, at the Old Parade Ground; they invited the security agencies and later, they shifted it to the International Conference Centre (ICC), and finally took it to the International Women’s Centre (IWC) in the night, without any record and information to the security agencies and you know that elections are not done in the night.

“No ballot boxes, but buckets and you know that elections are not collated with buckets. At the election process, they took light twice in the block where the elections were going on, in order to perfect their plans and you know that they don’t take light in the IWC and there were lights in other parts of the IWC and the elections were going on. Those who arranged the elections knew what they did, but God caught them.

“When they said that there were nine invalid votes, the man in charge of the election told them that the elections were inconclusive and declared nobody as winner, because he knew that he must report back to the national.

“After screening the votes, they discovered that out of the nine invalids, seven were credited to Murtala Usman Karshi. They also discovered that in the process of taking that light, they picked Muritala’s votes to be free kicks, so that they will be invalid. After the findings, the national saw that Murtala won the primary and gave him his madate.”

Making more explanations, Abari said that the man they declared winner had neither withdrawn from the PDP, nor joined and declared to the APC. Stating that by law, the man they brought, was still a bonafide member of the PDP, Abari advised the stakeholders and the party faithfuls to abide by the decision of the national.

In another development, it was gathered that the Jiwa Ward APC has indefinitely suspended the executive chairman of AMAC, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu (Candido) and the party’s chairman in the ward, Alhaji Baba Madaki from the APC for alleged anti-party activities and conspiracy. Similarly, suspended also by Karshi Ward of the party for the same alleged offence, was Hashimu Usman Angama.
