Voices of Wonder: Naija Poetry Fest, Alliance Française set to celebrate African children

As International Children’s Day draws near, the Naija Poetry Fest Community, in partnership with Alliance Française, Mike Adenuga Centre, Ikoyi, is gearing up for a colourful celebration like no other. Titled Voices of Wonder: Celebrating the African Child, the event is set to hold on Saturday, 17th May 2025 at 2 pm.

This isn’t just another children’s programme. It is a heartfelt celebration of the African child, their voices, their dreams, their struggles and their magic. The stage will come alive with vibrant performances from young poets, spoken word artists, and children’s music groups, each one using creativity to tell their unique story.

Godson Osarenren, Lead Convener of Naija Poetry Fest, shared the heartbeat behind the event. “We want children to see that their voices matter. Through poetry, music and art, they can speak, be heard and feel proud of who they are,” he said.

Guests can expect a lively and inspiring atmosphere where children take centre stage, using their words and talent to shine. The event will also feature an exciting art workshop where children can get hands-on with drawings, colour and imagination. It’s an open canvas for self-expression, and a chance for many to discover hidden talents.

There will also be an art exhibition showcasing beautiful pieces created by young artists, reminding us that creativity knows no age. With every stroke, verse and melody, the day will echo the spirit and strength of the African child.

Hosted at the serene grounds of Alliance Française in Ikoyi, the gathering promises to be a feast of culture, creativity and connection. It’s not just for the kids. Parents, teachers and art lovers are welcome to come experience the energy of a new generation finding their voice.

Voices of Wonder is more than a celebration. It is a reminder that the African child is full of wonder, wisdom and world-changing potential.
