Violence taints LG campaign in Jigawa as hoodlums attack rally, injure supporters

A campaign rally for the local government chairmanship in Malam Madori, Jigawa State, turned violent when unidentified hoodlums attacked the team and supporters, leaving many injured.

The incident occurred at Arki ward, where the chairmanship contestant, Malam Madori, was holding a campaign rally.

“It was a chaotic scene,” said an eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous. The hoodlums attacked the chairmanship contestant and his councillorship, and many cars used for the campaign were destroyed.”

The eyewitness added that many supporters were injured in the attack, some of whom were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

When contacted, the Jigawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shisu Adam, confirmed the story but said he had not received any information on arrests made.

“I’m not aware of any arrest, and I don’t have any information on the incident,” he said.

The local government election is scheduled for October 5th in the 27 local government areas of Jigawa State.
