Vigilante group’s BoT warns unpatriotic members

The Chairman, Board of Trustees of Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Alhaji Ahmed Dalhatu has said the board will not tolerate any action by any member of the group that will threaten national peace and security.

Dalhatu  in a signed press release in Abuja  warned all members of VGN against acts and conduct capable of bringing disharmony and breach of the aims and objectives of the Group.

According to him, the Board will not hesitate to sanction any member of VGN who indulge in publications and actions to deceive and mislead the public on the leadership and activities of the organisation.

He explained that the long running court case on who is the authentic Commander General of VGN has been settled by the Court of Appeal sitting in Kaduna.

Alhaji Dalhatu who emphasized that by virtue of the judgment of the Court of Appeal, Kaduna, Dr Usman Mohammed Jahun is the authentic Commander General of VGN, reiterated the commitment of the Board towards programmes that would strengthen security of lives and property in the country most especially in rural areas.

He added that VGN would continue to compliment the efforts of formal security agencies towards achieving national peace and development.

The chairman of VGN, Dr. Usman Mohammed Jabun in a chat with Nigeria NewsDirect on Tuesday maintained that the association currently does not have any division, stressing that some intruders wanted to cause division.

He maintained that the leadership tussle in the association was resolved at the court of law.

According to him, “I and one other person was in court before now. Fortunately at our end, the case was in our favour after almost 10 years of legal battle.

“We won the case at federal court of appeal in Kaduna. After sometime, one other person from that camp (I think the chief of staff of defected person) now pronounced himself as Commander General after the case was in favour in the court.

“The court said anybody acting on his behalf cannot claim he is a member of VGN.

“I don’t look at it as a serious issue because it is in contempt of the court and ignorance at their side. It shows lack of knowledge of the law and these are some of the things that make them to challenge court ruling on Commander General of VGN.”

The embattled chairman of VGN, Navy Capt Umar Bakori DSS Rtd,  explained to Nigerian NewsDirect that Dr. Usman Mohammed Jabun is not the Commander General of VGN, disclosing that a petition has been written to Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).

“What happened was that Dr. Usman  Mohammed Jabun has been fighting the position with Alhaji Ali Sokoto went from magistrate court to high court.

“Alhaji Sokoto won in both places and the case went to court of appeal. Dr. Usman Mohammed Jabun won at the federal appeal court, forcing Alhaji Sokoto to move the case to Supreme Court to challenge the ruling of court of appeal.

“Unfortunately, he died and the organization did not join in the seat.”

He stated that CAMA Act maintained that any judgement that does not include the incorporated trustees does not bind the organization.

He explained that the board of trustees had handed original certificate of the association to him, stressing that his BVN, among others are signatory to the account.

According to him, “I have personal written to Dr. Usman Mohammed Jabun to handover all the VGN properties to me which he refused to oblige. I setup board of enquiry and he did not respond. I have taken the matter to EFCC and I was invited last week Tuesday.

“We have suspended Dr Usman Mohammed Jabun in our last general meeting that took place November 28, 2020 pending the time of investigation. EFCC has started their investigation.

“We have written to CBN to stop all illegal accounts VGN opened without official seal and original certificate with is according to our constitution.”
