VGN members are valuable partners in keeping Ogun safe — Deputy Gov

The Deputy governor of Ogun State, Engr. Mrs Noimot Salako-Oyedele has lauded the members of Vigilantes Group of Nigeria (VGN) describing them as valuable partners in stemming tide of crime in the state.

Engr. Mrs Noimot Salako-Oyedele said the local intelligence of the Vigilantes members coupled with the fact that they also have deep knowledge of their respective locality had proven handy for the government in solving some of the security challenges, most especially kidnapping in the time past.

The Deputy governor gave this commendation while receiving the Commandant General of Vigilantes Group of Nigeria (VGN) Dr Jahun Usman recently in her office.

Engr. Mrs Salako-Oyedele said Gov Dapo Abiodun who placed so much premium on the security of lives and properties of the residents of the state had always seen members of VGN as reliable allies in securing the state and would continue to support the group to further succeed.

The VGN Commandant General, Dr Jahun Usman while speaking during the visit appreciated Ogun State government for giving VGN due recognition and finding the security outfit a reliable partner in securing the state.

He said that he was in the state as part of his working tour to the 36 States of the federation and that his desire centred around seeing that the VGN remained united and keep on waxing stronger in its core mandate of fighting all manners of criminalities in the country.

Speaking earlier while welcoming Dr Jahun Usman and his entourage to the state, the Special Adviser on Security to Gov Dapo Abiodun, AIG Olusola Subair (rtd) was also full of encomiums for the VGN saying members of the security outfit have always assisted in policing the state

AIG Olusola Subair (rtd) “it’s of no doubt that Vigilante members in Ogun have been up and doing, they have really proved so handy and helpful in security operations in the state. I remember very well that during COVID-19 lockdown and EndSARS saga, the VGN really helped to make Ogun one of the safest.

“We know that they are very familiar with their respective locality and that is why we also make them to be core and foundation members of our newly inaugurated Amotekun Corps. We value VGN’s support and they are part of our security architecture and we shall keep working together to make residents of the state sleep with their two eyes closed.”

Jahun who later met with the VGN and So-Safe Corps members called for unity saying that all the local security groups must abhor all manners of wranglings and work together as one big family to secure the state.

Ogun State Commandant of VGN, Commandant Temitope Odogun and Commandant of So-Safe Corps, Soji Ganzalo while speaking during the visit harped on oneness of all groups working to secure the state saying that in as much as their goal remains fighting criminalities, they should see themselves as one and remain committed to serving the good people of the state.

In the entourage of the Dr Jahun Usman were Ogun State Commandant of VGN, Commandant Temitope Odogun, Commander Olusola Shodiyan, Lt col Oden Bernard (rtd) DCG Adaji Ibrahim ACG Training, Adedoyin Olanrewaju Nureni ACA National PRO among others.
