Ushongo LG agog over APC members defection to PDP in Benue

Ushongo local government area of Benue State on Friday went agog as hundreds of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), dumped their party to join the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ushongo local government area of the State.
Governor Samuel Ortom and Senator Gabriel Suswam representing Benue North-East, received Dr. Akoso Aganyi the leader of the opposition members into the PDP.
He explained that the APC-led administration had failed Nigerians and there was no reason to remain in the party, added that the people of Ushongo were far better under the PDP-led administration in the past.
Ortom assured defectors of equal opportunities PDP and noted that they have the right to contest for any elective position in their new party.
In a remark, Senator Gabriel Suswam, said he and Governor Ortom were building a foundation for the youth to leverage on to provide people oriented and development leadership.
He stated that the people of Usbongo have no reason to remain in APC as the benefits they enjoyed while in PDP were too numerous to be forgotten in a hurry.
Sir John Ngbede, State Chairman of the PDP, attributed the massive defections into the PDP to the enabling environment provided by Governor Ortom, even as he assured them of equal opportunities in the party.
Hon. Abbas Akosu,House of Assembly member representing Ushongo State Constituency, called on Ushongo people to rally round PDP in the State for more dividends of democracy while Mrs Keziah Agundu said she was happy about the wise decision taken by her people to join PDP.
Chairman Forum of PDP Governorship Aspirants, Hon Chile Igbawua said they remain united and would go about their consultations and subsequent campaigns without rancour and assured to remain in unity and support anyone that would emerges as the flag bearer of the party in the forthcoming Governorship election 2023.
