Two soldiers were reportedly killed by unknown gunmen enforcing the sit-at-home order on Thursday at Obikabia Junction in Aba, Abia State.

The incident occurred when over 15 masked gunmen ambushed the soldiers, setting their patrol van ablaze after a sporadic shooting.

A viral video circulating on social media captures the dramatic scene, with the assailants seen firing shots indiscriminately before torching the military vehicle.

Amidst the chaos, a soldier later emerged from the scene. A voice accompanying the video suggested that he might be the sole survivor of the attack, stating, “It’s like he is the only one that survived; others have been killed.”

The attackers were reportedly operating an SUV jeep and a Sienna, vehicles commonly used for such covert operations.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Abia State Police Command nor the Military has issued an official statement regarding the incident.

The South-East region is currently experiencing a lockdown following a sit-at-home order declared by Biafra agitators to honor those who died during the Nigerian Civil War.

This order has led to increased tension and sporadic violence across the region.
