The Ilobu-Asake Development Union (IDU) has lauded Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for taking over the abandoned Osogbo-Ilobu-Ifon road from the federal government.

A letter signed on Wednesday, by IDU National Secretary, Mr Waheed Fawole, and addressed to Governor Oyetola, highlighted the importance of the road to the economic development of the people of the town.

The union said the road has become a death trap causing accidents and damaging vehicles for a very long time.

The letter partly reads, “The Ilobu-Asake Development Union (IDU), on behalf of His Royal Majesty the Olobu of Ilobu, Oba Ashiru Olatoye Olaniyan, the Chiefs and the good people of Ilobu wish to express our sincere appreciation to His Excellency, the Governor of Osun State, Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola for your good gesture on the official flag off of the rehabilitation of Osogbo/Ilobu and some other adjoining roads on the 5th Day of May 2022.

“Ilobu is a commercial hub most especially for agricultural produce and such other primary products. Due to the fact that this road network has for long been abandoned and has become a death trap, most of the economic activities in this axis have been disrupted leading to untold hardship on the people in the community as well as other categories of road users who ply the route on a regular basis.

“This is besides the accidents and damage to vehicles that people have had to contend with as well as serious health hazards because of enormous dust generated by every passing vehicle. It is therefore our belief, that the road project when completed will go a long way in assisting the community to boost her economic activities, reduce damage to vehicles, reduce the health hazards as well as encouraging rapid development of businesses. It will also open up Ilobu to more investment opportunities which will in turn contribute to the overall development of our dear state.

“Your Excellency sir, we appreciate your genuine love and passion towards making life bearable for our people. Your commitment to infrastructural development in all the nooks and crannies of the state has demonstrated good leadership bent on projecting our dear state to the world for better economic opportunities. We thank you most sincerely for counting Ilobu worthy of your attention and consideration in your infrastructural drive.”

While praying for God’s guidance, IDU appealed to the Governor for a quick completion of the project.

“As we pray to God to uphold you and guide your steps, we also appeal for timely completion of the project so that Ilobu and its environs can heave a sigh of relief.”
