UNILORIN V-C advises students to improve knowledge with quiz competitions
The Vice-Chancellor, University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Prof. Sulyman Abdulkareem, has urged the students to participate actively in quiz and debate competitions as a way of improving knowledge and avoiding social vices.
Abdulkareem who gave the advice on Thursday at the grand finale of the Inter-Faculty Quiz and Debate Competitions of the institution, described such competitions as the alternative to social vices.
The vice-chancellor, who was represented by the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Lanre Ajibade, appreciated the efforts of the participants and the courage they displayed during the competition.
He added that irrespective of whether some participants got prizes or not, they were all winners.
Reports state that at the end of the quiz competition, the Faculty of Clinical Sciences emerged first with a total of 663 points.
The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences took the second position with 660 points and the Faculty of Engineering and Technology came third.
In the debate competition, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology emerged winner and the Faculty of Law was the first runner up while the Faculty of Education emerged the second runner up.
