UNILESA bans indecent dressing, warns students of expulsion

The University of Ilesa, Osun State, has imposed a strict dress code for its students, warning that anyone found inappropriately dressed will be denied entry to lectures and offices, with further sanctions possibly leading to expulsion.

This decision was announced by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Taiwo Asaolu, during the university’s second matriculation ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic session.

In his address, Prof. Asaolu advised new students to maintain high levels of discipline both on and off campus. He stressed that the university would not award certificates to students who fail to demonstrate commitment to learning and good character.

“To facilitate identification, all students must wear their identity cards visibly within the university premises at all times.

“The university will not tolerate any form of dress that exposes body parts that may offend others’ sensibilities,” the VC said.

Prof. Asaolu also cautioned students against engaging in misconduct such as cultism, bullying, and harassment.

He encouraged anyone involved in such groups to renounce their membership immediately and seek counseling for reintegration.

He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to maintaining a conducive learning environment.
