By Sodiq Adelakun

One year after hosting the most prestigious NUGA sporting events, the University of Lagos (UNILAG) is set to host the next Council meeting of the Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA).

The meeting is scheduled to hold from today, Tuesday, March 21 to Thursday, March 23, 2023 at the University’s Akoka campus.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, FAS, on behalf of the University community, heartily extends a warm welcome to the NUGA Council executives and wishes them fruitful deliberations.

NUGA was founded in 1966 and has since organised inter-university sports competitions in Nigeria. Over the years, many university athletes who shined at these sports competitions have represented Nigeria at various international competitions like the Commonwealth and Olympic Games.

It would be recalled that for the fourth time since the game started 57 years ago, the University of Lagos hosted the 26th Nigerian University Games (NUGA) between Saturday, March 19 and Saturday, March 26, 2022. It was a grand epoch-making week filled with grit, determination, pump, new beginnings, and victory.
