UNILAG appoints new registrar, librarian
The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has made significant strides in its leadership structure with the recent appointments of Mrs. Victoria Abosede Wickliffe as Registrar and Dr. Olatokunbo Christopher Okiki as University Librarian.
The decisions were made during the university’s Governing Council meeting on December 6, 2024, presided over by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Chief Wole Olanipekun.
The appointments follow the rigorous processes led by the selection boards for both positions, as per the university’s statutory guidelines.
Mrs. Wickliffe, whose appointment takes effect on February 1, 2025, will serve a five-year term. She assumes her new position with the mandate to ensure effective administrative coordination at the university.
Dr. Okiki, appointed University Librarian, will assume office on March 14, 2025, for the same duration. Both leaders are expected to bring fresh perspectives to their respective roles, continuing the legacy of excellence at UNILAG.
The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, expressed her congratulations to the new appointees, wishing them a successful tenure.
“Their leadership will no doubt contribute to the continued growth and transformation of UNILAG into a global institution of higher learning,” Ogunsola said in a statement.
This reshuffle is part of the institution’s broader strategy to strengthen its leadership framework and ensure the best standards of service delivery in academic and administrative operations.
Mrs. Wickliffe and Dr. Okiki’s appointments are seen as critical in supporting the university’s goals of enhancing academic excellence, improving operational efficiency, and reinforcing its commitment to providing world-class education.
The announcement has already generated discussions among faculty, staff, and students, who are eager to witness the transformative changes that are set to unfold under their leadership.
