UNICEF, RUWASA distribute sanitation materials to flood victims in Jigawa

In collaboration with the Jigawa State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA), UNICEF has commenced the distribution of 1,250 WASH kits to flood victims in Jigawa State.

The supplies, categorized into WASH Dignity kits and Cholera kits, aim to provide emergency assistance and prevent cholera outbreaks in the 12 IDP camps across the 14 affected local government areas.

The distributed items include Water Guard, bathing soap, Jerry cans, washing powder, plastic kettles, cups, buckets, sanitary pads, and brushes. The initiative targets thousands of displaced victims, and the materials are intended to provide a proactive measure to save lives and prevent cholera outbreaks.

The director of sanitation and hygiene, Malam Magaji Abdulsalam, emphasized the importance of fair and just distribution, especially to those still taking refuge in the camps.

This effort is part of the ongoing government flood and cholera response, and the materials are intended to provide a proactive measure to save lives and prevent cholera outbreaks.

Flagging off the distribution, UNICEF officials and RUWASA staff were present at Kiyawa and Buji IDP camps, highlighting the environmental support provided to the victims.
