Unemployment: NGOs task FG on promoting skill acquisition, entrepreneurship
Three Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in the Country, has charged the Federal government and Nigerians at large to focus on skill acquisition, entrepreneurship and mentorship to combat the scourge of unemployment in the Country.
The triad of Haddasha Care Development, Gabawassa Initiative and Prolific Stella Initiative also sued for collaboration, mentorship and financial empowerment on behalf of non-governmental organizations.
The entreaty which was disclosed on Friday, at the just concluded two weeks intensive training and empowerment organized by the collaboration of the organization, with the theme “Project Empower A Woman, Empower All.”
Speaking at the grand finale of the event, the Chairman of Haddash Care Center, Mr Dunama Stanley Balami, emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship and skill acquisition scheme, and admonished the graduands to put to practice the knowledge acquired in the course of the training.
According to him, “The training has succeeded, given the fact that participants have been impacted in terms of skills and training like catering services, digital marketing and fashion skills.
“I believe if they follow through and develop the skills they have acquired, the sky will be their begining, and definitely they are going to become big entrepreneurs going forward.
“My advice to the trainees is that whatever they have learnt here, they should put it into practice. Because this is always the launching path for entrepreneurs in the society,” he said.
Also baring her mind at the occasion was the Director Gabawassa Initiative, Mrs Yaro Doris, who said, “The motivation behind the initiative is to encourage women to be self-reliant, and empowered to take care of themselves and the nation.”
She noted that “with the current economic challenges in the country, we want to influence our nation by empowering people and wrestle them from idleness, poverty and set them on the pedestal of economic self-reliance.”
She advised the government to create enabling environment, financial aid, infrastructure, and stimulus to budding entrepreneurs as these will enhance the skills they have acquired to create job opportunities for the society.
Some of the beneficiaries of the training whose joy knew no bounds, expressed hope as they displayed the products manufactured in their respective classes.
These include products like hand sanitizer, liquid soap, sewn clothes among others. They were optimistic, that they are on the path to greatness.
In the same vein, Mrs. Esther Daniel Balami, the Director of Hadassah Care, eulogised the trainees and charged them to create job opportunities for themselves and the society.
She revealed that the centre is eager to collaborate with individuals and organizations who can offer mentorship and financial assistance, as these will help them empowered many people.
Championing the same idea, the Director of Prolific Stella Initiative, Miss Stella Adu reiterated that the synergy between the organizations has helped the trainees to acquire different skills, which in no time will make them employers of labour in their respective domain.
Stella called on the government and individuals to reach out to the entrepreneurs and non-governmental organizations, noting that “a life without skill, is a risky adventure.”
