Unemployed man remanded for armed robbery

A 38-year-old unemployed man, Lukmon Jimoh, has been sent to the Kirikiri Correctional Centre by an Ikeja Magistrate Court.

He is accused of robbing a man at gunpoint and has been denied mercy by Magistrate M.F. Onamusi.

Mrs. Onamusi has ordered that the defendant remain in custody until March 27, awaiting advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions. Lukmon Jimoh, who resides at 28 Agric St., Ogijo, Ogun State, is facing charges of conspiracy and armed robbery.

The prosecutor, Inspector Innocent Odugbo, told the court that the offences were committed on December 4, 2023 at 5, Balogun Pariola St., Ibeju Lekki, Lagos.

Inspector Odugbo told the court that both the defendant, and others who have ran away, attacked the complainant in his house and robbed him of a gold chain, a wristwatch, three mobile phones and a cash of N185,000.

According to Mr Odugbo, some of the said stolen items have been estimated to worth N11.36 million.

The prosecutor said that the police who arrested the defendant came when the neighbours alerted them, before other accomplices ran away.

According to Mr Odugbo, the offences contravene Sections 297 and 299 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
