Unemployed man docked for alleged theft

An unemployed man, Francis Adakole, 24, was on Wednesday docked in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan for allegedly stealing a gold chain, a wristwatch and a cell phone worth N3. 9 million.

The police charged Adakole whose residential address was not provided with conspiracy, house breaking and theft.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Toyin Ibrahim told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on Oct. 9, at about 10:30 a.m, at Harmony Estate, Elebu area, Ibadan.

Ibrahim alleged that the defendant and others at large broke into the house of Abdulwasiu Olagoke and stole a gold chain, watch and phone worth N3, 900, 000.

He alleged that the defendant also stole the claimant’s Nissan Almera car worth N1. 9million.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 516, 411 and 390(9) of the criminal laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The defendant however pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs. Abimbola Amole-Ajimoti, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until Jan. 12 for hearing.
