The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on Thursday rated the administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola high in the area of human capacity development and prompt response to social security.
This was the view of the world body through its Country Representative, Mr Segun Olusola while speaking with participants at the one week orientation/capacity building workshop for victims of violence in Osun organised by the State government of Osun and the UNDP.
Mr Olusola said it was heart warming to see that Osun puts high premium on human capital development which is the main reason why the State is ranked one of the most peaceful in the country because a lot of youths in the State are engaged.
The UNDP representative however implored the State Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola to keep up the tempo in the area of human capacity development, stressing that it was the only way a society can remain peaceful while boosting the economy.
In his words, “I must commend the Governor of Osun, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola for pulling this off in collaboration with the UNDP. This was made possible because of the uncommon zeal and passion which the Governor has in terms of good welfare for his people.
“That this workshop is taking place in the State for victims of violence is a pointer to the fact that the Governor is a lover of his people. It wasn’t an easy decision to choose Osun because there was competition from other States. Osun got the nod because of the foundation the Governor had laid down for human capacity development.
“I will passionately urge the participants at this programme to see it as a rare previledge, victims of violence are all over the country wishing to have this kind of opportunity. But the good work of the Osun Governor has brought it to Osun, my appeal is for them to take it serious and take the opportunity to get out of the distress situation caused by violence”. He stated.
