Following the persistent Communal crisis in Effium and Ezza-Effium Community, Ebonyi state government has distributed 100 motorcycles to aid security operatives in tackling the crisis.

Presenting the motorcycles to the heads of Security agencies, the State Commissioner for Internal Security, Boarder Peace and Conflict Resolution, Mr Stanley Okoroemegha said government is committed to restoring peace in the grassroot areas especially in Effium.

Emegha said the motorcycles are to be distributed to various security agencies in the order of 20 to the army, 30 to the police and 50 motorcycles are to be given to the state owned Neighborhood watch vigilante group.

Mr Okoroemegha said the motorcycles would help the security agents in the community to enter the nooks and crannies of the community to fish out hoodlums in the area.

“These motorcycles has been distributed to the military, Police and Neighborhood Watch in Effium and Ezza-Effium Community to aid them in bringing lasting peace in the area. 20 motorcycles were given to Military, 30 to Police and 50 to Neighborhood watch,” Okoroemegha explained.

“It is the fulfilment of the promise the state government made to the security agencies, you know this Effium and Ezza Effium crisis, there are too many hinterlands that vehicles cannot access.

“And as such the security agencies made appeal to the governor of the state to procure 100 pieces of the motorcycles.”
