Ukraine imposes 50 years sanctions on Iran

Ukraine has imposed 50 years of sanctions on Iran for aiding Russia’s invasion with military equipment.

Ukraine’s parliament announced this in a Telegram post on Tuesday.

The sanction includes a ban on exports of “military and dual-use goods” to Iran and the “suspension of economic and financial obligations in favour of residents of Iran.”

Also, the sanctions bar Iranian aircraft from flying through Ukraine’s airspace and ban Iranian goods from transiting through Ukraine.

Russia has ramped up attacks on Ukraine’s capital Kyiv this month with Iran-manufactured Shahid drones, destroying infrastructure and civilian deaths.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had on Wednesday asked the Iranian people not to be “accomplices in Russian terror.”

He stated that his forces had shot down about 900 of more than 1,160 drones used against Ukraine, figures that have likely risen during Russia’s barrage of aerial attacks in the days since.

Iran has supplied Russia with military hardware, including the Shahed loitering munition that Russia has launched at Ukraine by the hundreds.

The U.S. and the EU have imposed sanctions against Iran for supplying Russia with these drones.
