UEFA reacts to Frank Lampard’s appointment as Chelsea new manager

UEFA, on Thursday, reacted after Chelsea appointed Frank Lampard as the club’s new manager.

The Europe top football governing body described Lampard’s appointment as a ‘good move’.

“Chelsea appoint 2012 winner & former midfielder Frank Lampard as their new manager on a three-year deal. Good move,” UEFA posted on Twitter alongside a picture of Lampard on Blues’ shirt holding the 2012 Champions League trophy.

Newsmen had reported that Lampard on Thursday signed a three-year deal with Chelseaworth £4million-a-year with hefty bonuses, especially for getting into the UEFA Champions League.

The 41-year-old replaces Maurizio Sarri, who has since left to take over at Juventus, after spending only one season at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking after his appointment, Lampard told Chelsea’s official website: “I am immensely proud to be returning to Chelsea as head coach. Everyone knows my love for this club and the history we have shared.”
