UCL: Arsenal coach won’t be happy with me – Raya

Arsenal goalkeeper, David Raya has said that the club’s goalkeeper coach ‘won’t be happy’ with him despite his penalty shootout heroics in the Champions League against FC Porto.

According to Raya, he should have saved three penalties for Arsenal against Porto.

The Gunners defeated Porto on penalties on Tuesday night to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time since 2010.

Leandro Trossard scored just before half-time to level the match at 1-1, with the game at the Emirates heading to a shootout.

In a tense shootout that ultimately saw Arsenal emerge victorious, Raya showcased his talent by brilliantly saving two of Porto’s spot-kicks.

However, he expressed disappointment in conceding the third penalty, taken by Marko Grujic, despite getting a hand to the shot.

“I should have saved three. I don’t think the goalie coach will be happy that I conceded the third one,” Raya told TNT Sports.

“We had a plan of going one side or the other, and it depends on the players,” Raya added.

“You study them as well and as well with the players they study the goalkeepers nowadays. So credit to the GK Department that it has paid off.”
