Two suspects, pregnant woman arrested for allegedly faking her abduction in Yobe  

Yobe State Police Command says its operatives have arrested a pregnant woman, alongside two suspected accomplices, for allegedly staging her abduction.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim disclosed this on Tuesday in a statement made available to newsmen in Damaturu.

He said the pregnant woman, Nafisa Saleh was reported to have been abducted on her way to Specialists’ Hospital Damaturu for antenatal check up on 1st October, 2021, at about 7 am.

“Investigation later revealed that the said Nafisa turned out to be the mastermind of her alleged abduction for ransom from her husband and family members.

“Police detectives in Damaturu have uncovered the heinous activities and eventually arrested two suspects, namely: Mal Goni Modu and Umar Mai Gudusu all of Dadinge Village, Gujba LGA, while Nafisa was rushed to hospital for medical attention due to complaints of her health status”, he added.

According to him, full scale investigation had swiftly commenced for subsequent prosecution.

Meanwhile, Abdulkarim said the police have also arrested two suspects in connection with the kidnapping of a 3-year-old boy, Adamu Abubakar Baban Yawo who was later released by his abductors after collecting N50,000 as ransom.

He added that the third suspect was on the run and that the Command had commenced investigation for subsequent prosecution, while concerted effort was on to arrest the fleeing culprit.

“To this end, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Y. S. Abubakar urges members of the public to report all criminal tendencies and cooperate with security agencies at all times.

“The Command wishes to reiterate its commitment to ensuring public safety and security of the State”, the PPRO assured.
