Two men in court over alleged theft of generators worth N785,000
The Police in Lagos on Monday arraigned two men in an Ejigbo Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing six generators worth N785,000.
The defendants: Michael Oluwanisola, 29; and Joshua Emmanuel, 28, with no address, are facing a two-count of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on April 4, at Idimu, Lagos.
Aigbokhan said the defendants stole six generators; three Elepac Fireman, one Sumec and two Yahama, belonging to one Mr Lawal Saheed, who is also the complainant valued at N785,000.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The duo pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs K.A. Ariyo, granted them bail in the sum of N300,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
Ariyo ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and show evidence of tax payments to the Lagos State Government.
She added that one of the sureties must be a blood relative of the defendants.
The magistrate adjourned the case until April 19 for mention.
