A meeting to share inheritance in Papa Iwo, Osun State, Nigeria has resulted in the death of two persons and several others seriously wounded when armed attackers set on the family members during the metting. The main heir to the expanse of land in contention, Taiwo Yekeen Basiru, barely escaped with his life during the fracas.

According to some family members who spoke with our reporter on condition of anonymity, the attack was organised by the brother of the deceased father whose death was deemed suspicious and rumoured to have been caused by his brother, who did not want the children to share their late father’s properties.

Taiwo’s brother, Adedeji Adewale who died in 2016 was also killed by the same uncle.

The attack was supposed to be an assassination attempt on Taiwo’s life, which he barely escaped but, his sisters were severely injured, while two of his siblings lost their lives.

It was further discovered that the attackers had made further attempts on his life until he left for Lagos and even while at lagos, he still  receives telephone calls and messages from the assailants threatening his life.

Further investigation indicated that since the attack on 10th December 2021, Taiwo had fled the shores of Nigeria with rumour claiming he now resides in Brazil.
