Two female students of the Joseph Sarwuan University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State have been kidnapped by gunmen.
The students were said to have been kidnapped late hours of Saturday.
The spokesperson for the state command, Catherine Anene, who confirmed the kidnap of two female students to journalists on Wednesday, noted that the female students were kidnapped at about 11 pm on Saturday.
She said, “The report we heard was that the incident happened along North Bank/Uniagric Road, Saturday night at about 11 pm.”
Anene further explained that the suspected kidnappers blocked the road, attacked and took the victims before the security operatives could arrive at the incident.
The PPRO said both the family and the school authority had notified the command and investigation into the matter was ongoing.
Earlier, Benue policemen killed three suspected kidnappers and rescued two victims in the state.
The suspected kidnappers were reported to have abducted two people in the Ukum Local Government Area of the state and demanded N23m ransom. The victims were reportedly abducted in their homes about a week ago.
Anene, who disclosed this, stated that a team of Operation Zenda deployed to the area burst into the hideout of the suspected kidnappers in the early hours of Wednesday.
