Two docked over alleged theft of washing machine, others from LG

The police in Lagos on Wednesday docked two men, Sunday Godspower and Martins Heku, before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, for alleged conspiracy and stealing of household items.

Godspower, 25, and Heku, 40, are standing trial before Magistrate Ademola Adesanya on a four-count charge.

They, however, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Dr Simon Uche, told the court that the duo committed the offences from February 2021 to April 2021.

He alleged that the defendants conspired to enter into an LG Company in the Abule Oshun area of Lagos State, and stole a washing machine, deep freezer, motor battery and television set, all valued at N500,000.

Uche said that Godspower also attempted to steal a new car battery and a television set.

According to him, the alleged offences contravene Section 287, 307 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The court granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.

It adjourned the case until May 11 for mention.
