Tragedy struck on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Ibafo, Ogun State, as two men lost their lives and two others sustained injuries in a fatal car crash early Tuesday morning.

The accident involved a Blue Peugeot bus and an orange DAF truck, according to Florence Okpe, the Public Education Officer for the Ogun State Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

The incident occurred around 5:30 am, and a rescue operation was promptly conducted by the FRSC Ibafo Command team at Kara.

The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention, but two of them succumbed to their injuries.

The FRSC has commenced an investigation into the cause of the accident, and the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue.

The agency has also urged motorists to exercise caution and obey traffic rules to prevent such tragic incidents.

“Rescue operation was carried out today, Tuesday, 25th June, 2024, by a team from FRSC Ibafo Command at Kara, on a crash that occurred at about 0530hrs,” Okpe stated.

”Four male adults were involved in the crash. Two of the persons involved were killed, while the other two were injured. The suspected cause of the crash was speed and loss of control, which led to the rear collision of the two vehicles.”

The injured victims have been taken to the nearest hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased have been handed over to their families.
