Troops recover 215,000 litres of stolen crude, destroy 34 illegal refineries in N’Delta

Operations led by the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with other agencies has seen the troops recover 215,000 litres of stolen crude.

This is as the troops also uncovered 34 illegal activities across the Niger Delta region.

Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Lt. Col. Danjuma Jonah, in a statement disclosed that troops destroyed 19 boats and 8 vehicles and recovered various arms and ammunition during operations conducted from October 21–27, 2024.

The Army Spokesman further added that the troops deactivated three artisanal refineries and arrested suspects with over 100,000 litres of refined gas oil in Rivers State.

“Confiscation of a large wooden boat carrying 7,000 litres of stolen condensates in Degema LGA.

“Apprehension of five suspects in an attempt to vandalise the Oando pipeline, with seized items including stolen products and drilling equipment.

“Discovery of 16 illegal refining sites in Imo Riverside, Bayelsa, where 50 drum pots and over 10,000 litres of stolen oil were seized,” he revealed.

General Officer Commanding, 6 Division, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, commended the troops’ resilience and urged them to sustain their efforts to create a safe and economically viable environment in the region.
