Troops eliminate 9 terrorist seize weapons in Kaduna

Nigerian Army troops have successfully eliminated nine terrorists and seized a large cache of automatic weapons and ammunition following a fierce confrontation in Kaduna State. The clash occurred in the Kampani Doka and Rifigoro communities within the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area.

According to an official statement posted on the army’s X handle on Friday, the troops launched an offensive into a known terrorist stronghold near Kampani Doka. The terrorists offered strong resistance, opening fire as the troops approached. After a prolonged gunfight, the soldiers overcame the insurgents with superior firepower, killing seven of them.

The troops recovered significant armaments, including three AK-47 rifles, eight AK-47 magazines (four of which were fully loaded with 120 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition), a magazine carrier, and several motorcycles. Additionally, they found three mobile phones, two Baofeng communication radios, and three sets of civilian clothing.

The army also reported that the offensive extended to Gayam village in the same local government area, where they neutralized a prominent insurgent leader. Some of his associates, who sustained gunshot wounds, managed to escape but left behind their weapons and equipment.

Among the items retrieved were a PKT machine gun with eight rounds of ammunition, a Baofeng radio, various communication devices, one SMF magazine, and 14 mobile SIM cards.

The army emphasized that these operations represent a crucial step toward restoring peace and stability in the region. They urged the public to continue supporting the security forces, who are committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
