Transfer: Pochettino orders Chelsea to terminate Azpilicueta’s contract

New Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has given the green light for club captain Cesar Azpilicueta’s contract to be terminated, so he can leave on a free transfer this summer, despite his contract having a year left to run.

Blues owner, Todd Boehly, had blocked Azpilicueta from leaving for Barcelona last year.

However, Pochettino is eager to trim down the bloated squad he inherited at Stamford Bridge.

Ageing players such as Azpilicueta, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are set to join N’Golo Kante, Kalidou Koulibaly out of the exit door.

The Sun reports that Pochettino will let the 33-year-old Azpilicueta leave for free.

Inter Milan are believed to be the main club interested in signing the Spaniard, who has spent 11 years with Chelsea.
