Chelsea on Friday confirmed the signing of Cesare Casadei from Inter Milan.
The Blues also announced that Niamh Charles has signed a new contract with the club’s Women’s team.
Chelsea disclosed this in a separate statement via its website ahead of their Premier League tie with Leeds United this weekend.
The statement read in part, “Chelsea has completed the signing of Cesare Casadei from Inter Milan after the Italian agreed a six-year contract with the Blues.
“The teenage midfielder is considered one of his homeland’s brightest prospects after shining at youth level for club and country, being part of the Italy side which reached the semi-finals of the European Under-19 Championship in the summer.
“Niamh Charles has signed a new contract with Chelsea for three more years to keep her at the club until summer 2025.
“The 23-year-old has transitioned from attacking wide player to full-back since joining Chelsea from Liverpool Women in the summer of 2020. A tenacious defender, she has already impressively helped the club clinch two Barclays FA Women’s Super League titles, two Vitality FA Cup’s and the Continental Cup while also making the final of the UEFA Champions League.”
