Tragic road crash claims four lives on Ore-Ijebu Ode route

A devastating road crash occurred on Monday, September 16, 2024, at approximately 2:00 pm on the Ore-Ijebu Ode route at RCC, Ogbere, Ogun State.

The accident involved a white Toyota Hiace bus with registration number XA690AKU.

Total number of people involved was 18 passengers.

The injured victims were rushed to State Hospital, Ijebu-Ode, for medical attention, while the corpses were deposited at the hospital’s morgue.The crash is suspected to have been caused by fatigue and loss of control.

Sector Commander CC Akinwumi advised motorists to ensure they get maximum rest before embarking on a journey and observe rest periods of 15-30 minutes after every 4 hours of driving.

“This tragic incident highlights the importance of road safety and responsible driving practices,” Akinwunmi noted.  

Sector Commander Akinwumi added that, “We urge all drivers to prioritise their safety and the safety of others on the road. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has been working tirelessly to reduce road traffic crashes through various initiatives, including technology-driven patrol operations and public education campaigns.”
