Tragedy as fire razes spare parts’ building in Lagos, destroys items worth millions

A spare parts’ building, CETECH, in the Ladipo area of Lagos State has been gutted by fire. According to a source, the fire started around 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Although no life was lost, several items and valuables worth millions were destroyed.

While the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained as at the time of filing this report, some residents told Nigerian NewsDirect that it may have been caused by electrical faults.

However, Emergency responders including National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), security agencies were at the scene at the time of filing this report.

Scores of residents and workers gathered at the entrance of the affected building, counting their losses and lamenting the disaster.

Others joined the firefighters to quench the inferno while offloading goods in the building.
