TRACE trains officers on capacity building, strategic master plan

The Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) on Wednesday trained its officers on capacity building and strategic master plan in the state.
Speaking at the 7th annual TRACE Corps Commander’s Conference in Abeokuta, the Corps Commander,, said the training was geared towards advancing the officer’s capability for effective service delivery.
The theme of the programme is “Capacity Building: Ogun State Strategic Transportation Master Plan: Role of Trace” .
Ogunyemi explained that the essence of the workshop was to generate ideas and fashion out ways on how best to rebrand and reposition the agency.
He noted that it was important to be abreast of the challenges and dynamism of modern day traffic management.
” This year’s theme is designed towards building on past successes of a more robust, vibrant, intellectually sound and knowledge driven traffic management agency.
” We have the capacity and the capability to drive the new thinking of the transportation sector for more safer Ogun traffic corridors for the well being of the general public,” he said.
Declaring the workshop open, the state Deputy Governor, Mrs Noimot Salako -Oyedele, commended the efforts of TRACE by improving the capacity of its personnel.
“As the Chairman of Ogun State Road Safety Advisory Council, am happy that TRACE put this together.
”This is one of the aims to make sure that all practitioners in the road safety space are continually train and retrain to make sure that we have safe road safety space,” he said.
The deputy governor explained that officers must be able to enforce traffic laws to be able to work effectively.
She called on TRACE officers to be good ambassadors of the state and develop excellent skills so as to manage situations with members of the public and not damage the reputation of the agency.
She added that Gov. Dapo Abiodun had put in a lot of work into improving road network across the state.
The State Commissioner for Transportation, Gbenga Dairo, said continuous training and enlightenment of the public is key on the part of TRACE.
