TRACE embarks on aggressive campaign to stem road crashes

The Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) on Tuesday said it would embark on more aggressive campaigns to stem road crashes in 2023.
Mr Adekunle Ajibade, the Area Commander, TRACE Ogun West, who made this known while speaking with newsmen in Ota, explained that the aggressive campaign was a directive by the Corps Commander/CEO, Mr Seni Ogunyemi.
“The Corps Commander/CEO, has directed that all TRACE area, divisional, and unit commanders, should immediately embark on more aggressive campaign aimed at checking excesses of drivers and save more lives from road crashes in 2023.
“We intend to intensify campaign, especially on radio, television, motor parks, churches and mosques to sensitise the motoring public on the importance of safety.
“TRACE believes that safety is a collective responsibility that requires everyone to strictly adhere to all traffic rules and regulations to reduce mishaps on the roads,” he said.
Ajibade noted that some breadwinners had died while many were in wheelchairs due to crashes which were avoidable.
The commander advised motorists to desist from flouting traffic rules and regulations, as well as refrain from driving against traffic to minimise accidents on the roads in 2023.
He enjoined them to reduce speeding, dangerous driving, drunk driving, and the use of cellphones while driving.
Ajibade also advised commercial motorcyclists to always use their crash helmets to reduce injuries during accidents.
The commander assured that TRACE would continue to collaborate with other sister agencies to ensure sanity on the highways.
Ajibade implored motorists to cooperate with TRACE personnel to ease gridlocks and ensure free flow of traffic across the state.
