Toyin Amuzu: The Shooting Star that must shine brighter now

By Olawale Taiwo Abideeen

If you live in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital, particularly in areas such as Kuto, Kugba, Oke-Ijeun, Ijeun-Titun and environs, or you are even a transporter, then you must have heard of a ‘Shooting Star’ known as Toyin Amuzu or ‘TA’ as his admirers would love to call him.

Toyin Amuzu, TA is the raving big heart, touching lives in both the cosmopolitan and rural communities of Abeokuta, making it easily impossible not to notice his kind gestures.

Through his Toyin Amuzu Foundation (TAF), the Okanlomo Ijeun, like a man on a mission, has rolled out life-impacting programmes to help his people.

From his timeous support to the elderly, to the provision of educational inputs to students to the disbursement of interest-free loans to small businesses in Abeokuta South Local Government Area, to the engagement of youth in sports competitions and talent hunt programmes, TA has carried on his mission with adept determination to better the lives of citizens in his cradle.

In the heat of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the TA Foundation took up the gauntlet to alleviate the effects of the contagion, distributing over 1000 face shields, hand sanitizers and food items to citizens.

The regular free fuel vouchers by the foundation has become a delight among commercial motorcycle operators, tricycle riders and cab drivers in Abeokuta. These transporters are able to fill up their tanks for free from time to time. The gesture distils straight into the society, affording the transporters the opportunity to charge lesser fares from commuters.

Over the past years, residents of communities in Ijeun, Kugba, Oke-Itoku, Igbehin and Kuto have been full of praises for Toyin Amuzu, owing to the provision of potable water in their communities. These are people who lacked safe and clean water for their daily living prior to Amuzu’s intervention.

But who is Toyin Amuzu and why is he committed to touching lives via philanthropy?

The answer is found in his life’s creed. Toyin believes in the scriptural injunction that “whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt to his Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honours God.”

This explains why Adrian Homes CEO continues to give back to his community from his just earnings as a real estate mogul and serial investor.

His solid training and background are also a veritable factor in his approach to life. A trained accountant, with an MBA to boot, the Leragun of Igbein land has not wavered in his quest to create wealth for greater good since his days at St. Gregory College through his stint at Obalende Suya, UK and until date.

But he can only do so much as a private citizen with limited reach and resources.

This is why a shooting star like the Asiwaju Leragun Egba, Chief Toyin Amuzu, TA, must be encouraged and supported to get into governance via popular votes. Well aware, he is on his way to realising this vision as he identifies with the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), and contributes immensely to its growth. All men of goodwill must rally round him for optimal delivery in 2023, as we urge him to contest for the House of Representatives in Abeokuta South Federal Constituency.

It is time for Toyin to shine his light even more brightly for the benefit of his people, especially in Abeokuta South.

Meteorologists say, a shooting star is a sign of good luck, may Toyin Amuzu be our own good luck in Abeokuta South Federal.
