TotalEnergies, NSTPJDA donate hygiene, sanitary facility to MAPOLY

TotalEnergies in collaboration with Nigeria-Sao Tome and Principe Joint Development Authority (NSTPJDA) on Tuesday donated a hygiene and sanitary facility to Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, Ogun.

Speaking during the inauguration of the facility at the school premises, Mr Matthieu Bouyer, the Managing Director and Country Chair, TotalEnergies Upstream Nigeria Ltd., said that the facility was a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative for the institution.

Bouyer explained that the gesture was in response to the health challenges posed by infectious diseases, saying that the need for preventive health care can not be overemphasised.

He stated that diseases like Ebola and the COVID-19 pandemic had shown that basic hygiene such as handwashing and a good sanitary environment could go a long way in protecting the populace from harm.

“It is for this reason that we decided to embark on this project which is in line with our commitment to the wellbeing and economic development of communities and the country at large.

“This facility we are inaugurating comprises 10 toilets, divided into two parts of five toilets each for females and males, including urinal for male with other ancillary items.

“A borehole with a 5.5HP automatic solar powered submersible pump. A 5.5kva hybrid solar powered system. Two 2,000 litre overhead water tanks and perimeter fence, gate house, barbed wire and skylight sun shed,” he said.

The managing director noted that the project was the sixth of similar facilities replicated in tertiary institutions across all geopolitical zones of the country.

Bouyer explained that TotalEnergies remains committed to the development of the people and continues to pursue high impactful initiatives across different spheres of Nigerian society.
