TotalEnergies donates 10,000-litre water, tank, bunk beds to  Apapa Federal Fire Service station

TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc has donated 10,000-litre water, tank and double bunk beds to  the Federal Fire Service Command.

Speaking  at the commissioning ceremony, the Managing Director of TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc, Dr Samba Seye represented by Executive Director/Secretary General, Mrs Lesley Green reiterated that TotalEnergies is committed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals through her programmes and activities.

“As a result, we have placed sustainable development at the heart of all our projects and operations while building strong partnerships with key stakeholders.”

“Our societal approach to corporate social responsibility focuses on the needs of our stakeholders identified through structured and constructive dialogue and needs-assessment. This helps us to provide values added projects to our communities and stakeholders”, Lesley noted.

Speaking further, Lesley added that the 10,000-litre capacity water tank will help the Fire Station to conveniently fill its 8,000-liter fire pump vehicle for operations in and around the Apapa community and it will also improve the sleeping condition of the firemen.

“During the engagement, in agreement with the personnel of the Fire Service, we identified the need for a reliable and adequate water holding facility for the Federal Fire Service.”

“In addition, there was a dire need to ameliorate the sleeping condition of the Firemen who work, day and night, to ensure fire safety in the Apapa community and its environs. Safety is a core value at TotalEnergies,” she said.

The Zonal Commander, Zone F of the Federal Fire Service, ACGF Chika Njoku in his address delivered by ACF Oduyelu Olumuyiwa Adelaja, Operational Commander of Zone F appreciated the management of Total Energies Marketing Nigeria Plc for the donation.

Oduyelu noted that the project will go a long way in improving the response time of the emergency responder and also to mitigate the damage done by fire in the community and to the general economy of Nigeria.

According to him, “The morale of the firefighters are being boosted by this landmark development which will surely translate and reflect in their mode of operation because to whom much is given, much is expected.”

The operational commander also appealed to the sons and daughters of the community to cooperate with the fire fighters whenever they are being called upon to perform their duties.

The Onijora of Ijora who was the royal father of the day also encouraged other private sector players to contribute to the development of their host communities and emulate TotalEnergies.

TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc handed over to the Federal Fire Service, Marine Beach, Apapa Station: A 10,000-litre capacity Braithwaite overhead aluminum tank, with stanchions. In addition to that, they also installed six units of adult double bunk beds with full accessories (mattresses, pillows, and bed linens) and painted the rooms where the beds were installed.

In handing over these projects to the Apapa Fire Service Station, TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria PIc has fulfilled a commitment we made during our last Stakeholder Relationship Management (SRM+) engagement with the Apapa Fire Service Station.
