TotalEnergies celebrates World Clean-up day in Ibadan

…Donates cleaning tools to Bodija market

Ahead of the World Clean-up day, TotalEnergies has embarked on a CSR initiative to celebrate the global event.

The organisation took its first campaign to Mokola and Bodija Market in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Addressing participants at the opening ceremony, the Managing Director of TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc, Dr Samba Seye said, “more than ever before, there is heightened need for environmental consciousness as the climate begs for action from every individual.”

“As a result, we have placed sustainable development at the heart of all our projects and operations while building strong partnerships with key stakeholders.”

“We are therefore, intentional in creating necessary awareness and implementing actions that will go a long way in protecting the environment,” Seye said.

He also reiterated the commitment of TotalEnergies to supporting the United Nations in meeting the Sustainable Development Goals through her programmes and activities.

Speaking on the choice of the organisation to select Ibadan as its kickoff state, the Executive General Manager/Company Secretary of TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc, Bunmi Popoola-Mordi disclosed that TotalEnergies and the people of Ibadan have a long-standing relationship.

According to her,  “of the 143 Service Stations we have within our New Lagos Region (Ibadan inclusive), 28 of them are sited in Ibadan town alone.

“Our truck drivers training school and inspection centre, the only one of its kind in West Africa, is only sited in Ibadan. It is, therefore, not a coincidence that we are in

Mokola and Bodija Ibadan today for this initiative.”

The Commissioner of Environment, Mrs. M. E. Adeleye represented by Mrs Bukola Areo, Director of Environment health services stated that the Government cares about the environment and it is working unrelentlessly to rid the environment of toxic materials that could endanger the lives of plants, animals, water bodies and the people as well.

Adeleye added that the State Government is ready to partner with all organisations that are interested in saving the environment.

TotalEnergies also donated cleaning equipment during its cleanup campaign to the Bodija Market Association.

Alhaji Ismail Aderemi Jimoh, Babaloja of Oyo State thanked the MD and TotalEnergies for the donation of pickers to the market.

He stated that the equipment will assist to keep the market clean always.
