Tobi Amusan qualifies for 100m hurdles semis in 2024 Olympics
World record holder Tobi Amusan qualified for the 100-meter hurdles semi-finals at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Wednesday. She led the qualifiers with a time of 12.49 seconds, ahead of America’s Alaysha Johnson (12.61) and Jamaica’s Janeek Brown (12.84).
Amusan, a top contender for the gold medal, faces strong competition from Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas, USA’s Alaysha Johnson, world champion Danielle Williams, and Puerto Rico’s reigning Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn.
The semi-finals are scheduled for Friday, August 9, with the final taking place on Saturday, August 10. The 27-year-old Amusan has been in excellent form, setting a season’s best and world lead of 12.40 seconds at the Jamaican Athletics Invitational in May.
