Tinubu’s victory: Dismiss PDP, Atiku’s petition – APC urges Presidential tribunal

The All Progressives Congress, APC, on Wednesday, prayed the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal to dismiss the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s petition challenging the election of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu.

APC urged the tribunal to reject the petition in its notice of preliminary objection marked: CA/PEPC/A/05/2023, Newsmen reports.

It noted that the tribunal lacked the jurisdiction to adjudicate on PDP’s petition against Tinubu’s election.

Stressing that the claims of non-compliance must be proven on a polling unit basis, APC said PDP failed to provide the particulars of polling units where electoral fraud was perpetrated.

“The petition as presently constituted is devoid of necessary particulars to support allegations of corrupt practices, violence and non-compliance with provisions of the Electoral Act.

“Paragraph 35 of the petition is not relevant or cognizable and 84 is vague as no specific figure or polling units are pleaded as the margin of lead to be countered by the respondent,” the APC said.

The party urged the tribunal to strike out or dismiss PDP’s petition for lacking merit.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had declared Tinubu the winner of the last presidential election after polling the highest number of votes.

Aggrieved by the announcement, PDP headed to the election tribunal to contest the election outcome.
