Tinubu’s Spokesman, Onanuga blasts PDP over profligacy

…As N10bn scandal hits party

…Arapaja, Dan Orbih, others return N120m suspected to be bribe

Bankole Taiwo, Abeokuta

The Spokesman of Tinubu Campaign Organization, Mr Bayo Onanuga has hit hard at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) describing it as a party with penchant for profligacy and mismanagement of public fund.

Mr Bayo Onanuga said the party would rather decide to share fund that was supposed to be used to provide for security, good roads, qualitative healthcare and education among others

Onanuga stated this while reacting to letters written by some members of the National Working Committee to the Chairman of the party, Dr Iyorcha Ayu detailing how they have all received huge amount of money at their various bank accounts and how they have decided to return the money as it had been alleged that the money was to bribe them over alleged misappropriation of N10bn nomination forms.

According to these letters dated September 28 and 29 respectively, while the Deputy National Chairman for South, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja returned N36m, Dan Orbih, National Vice Chairman, South/South returns returned N28m, Hon Olasoji Adagunodo, National Vice Chairman Southwest, also returned 28m likewise the National Woman Leader Prof Stella Effah Attoe.

The money was allegedly said to have been paid into the account of these members of National Working Committee to allegedly buy them over because of the missing N10bn nomination forms.

This is coming a day after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flagged off its presidential campaign in Abuja amidst boycott by Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, his counterpart from Benue State, Gov. Ortom and several others

Onanuga on his Facebook page on Thursday night had posted “PDP in its 16 years in power earned the notoriety of always ‘sharing the money.’ Money was always shared not for public good, which was why the party left our infrastructure derelict and  our armed forces  ill-equipped to face new security challenges.

“Public money was always shared into their pockets, even at the expense of national security as the APC government of President Muhammadu Buhari found in 2015—paper trails of public money going into private pockets.

“Now the party known as ‘share the money’ has started again. The revelation about the reenactment of the party’s old habits is a timely warning to Nigerians not to ever again entrust our country in the hands of those plunderers and their veteran flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar.”
