The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Development, South East region, Mrs. Chioma Nweze on Wednesday called on the governorship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii and Ifeanyi Odoh of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, to withdraw further ligation against the governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru.
Recall that the two opponents- Odii and Odoh had dragged Governor Nwifuru to the election petition tribunal sitting in Abuja.
News reports that the three-member panel of the tribunal led by Justice Leken Ogunmoye held that the petitioners, Odoh and Odii failed to prove that Nwifuru was still a member of the PDP when he ran for governor in the March 18 governorship poll.
Justice Ogunmoye further held that the petitioners lacked the locus standi to institute the action because the issue was an internal affairs of the APC, thereby dismissing the petitions against Nwifuru for lacking in merit.
Reacting, Nweze, in a statement signed and issued to newsmen in Abakaliki, shortly after Nwifuru’s victory, tasked the two petitioners to drop further litigations and join hands with the Governor for the purpose of enhancing good governance in the State.
She applauded the three-member panel for validating the votes of Ebonyi citizens.
“It is therefore no surprise that the frivolous petitions were torn to shreds by the impartial sword of justice.
“I most passionately urge all contenders to swallow the humble pie and team up with you to enable the State enjoy many more years of progressive governance,” she stressed.
