Tinubu will restore lost glory in Benue- Akume

Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Senator George Akume has disclosed that the president-elect, Ahmed Bola Tinubu is ready to collaborate with the incoming administration in Benue State under the watch of Fr. Alia to restore the lost glory of the state in the past 8 years.

Senator Akume who is the leader of APC in Benue State and the former governor also revealed that various committees will be set up to critically look into the 8 years of the PDP administration under the leadership of Samuel Ortom.

Akume made the disclosure on Monday while fielding questions from journalists at his Makurdi residence. He stated that Benue people have revolted against bad administration that could not attend to the plight of the people.

He maintained that all the APC candidates in the state are knowledgeable about governance and will erase tears off the faces of the suffering masses.

“If Rev Fr. Hycinth Alia of APC is declared as the winner of the governorship position in the state, Benue State development and transformation shall once again return to Benue”, he maintained.

He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for conducting elections that reflect the feelings of the people.

The Special Duties Minister who was wearing a T-Shirt with the inscription, “Never bite the hand ..,…” noted that the incoming administration will take close scrutiny of loans obtained by the outgoing regine in the state with the aim of ascertaining it usefulness or otherwise.

Responding to a question, the APC leader in the state explained that he appeared to have assisted Samuel Ortom in becoming the governor of Benue State, but that when Ortom in some of his outings said it was the Holy Spirit that made him governor, he wouldn’t want to join issues with him.

Nigerian NewsDirect reports that collation of Governorship and House of Assembly election results in Benue State is ongoing as two local government areas of Konshisha and Okpokwu are been awaited.

The Chief Returning Officer in Benue State and Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Minna, Professor Farouk Kuta, commended the peaceful exercises and adjourned the sitting 3:00pm today.

The local government areas that have so far presented the election results are Ukum, Logo, Katsina-Ala, Vandeikya, Ushongo, Buruku,Tarka, Makurdi, Guma, Gwer West, Gwer East, Obi, Oju, Oturkpo, Ado, Apa, Agatu, Ohimini, Gboko, Okpokwu.

INEC had suspended elections in Kwande Local Government Area due to mixed up in distribution of Houses of Assembly for Kwande West and Kwande East constituencies which elections will be rescheduled at a later date.
