Tinubu appoints new NIA, DSS DG

President Bola Tinubu has appointed new Directors-General for the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Services (DSS).

On Monday, presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale announced that Mohammed Mohammed is the new head of the NIA, and Adeola Ajayi will lead the DSS. These appointments follow the resignations of Ahmed Rufai and Yusuf Bichi, respectively.

Mohammed, a veteran of the NIA since 1995, has held several key roles, including heading the Nigerian mission in Libya. He has also served in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and the State House in Abuja.

Ajayi, now appointed as DSS DG, has advanced through the ranks to become Assistant Director-General and has served as State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi.

President Tinubu expects the new leaders to enhance the effectiveness of their agencies and address national security challenges through improved collaboration and alignment with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). He also thanked the outgoing Directors-General for their service and wished them success in their future endeavors.
